Guided tour of Johanna mill in Huijbergen
In November, the culture class visited the Johanna mill in Huijbergen. Sil reports: “We arrived at the Johanna mill and were kindly welcomed by Theo. He said he is still learning to become a miller. The whole mill is made of wood, It looks nice. There is even an air raid shelter in the mill, people could take shelter here during the war.
The mill was in a special position because a child had been born there. Theo showed us a mold that they use for making gingerbread.
It all looked beautifully old! We also went upstairs to take a look. When I saw the stairs, I was afraid for a moment that I wouldn't make it to the top, but it still worked :). I didn't even find the stairs upstairs scary, but…. then I had to go back down and that still made my knees weak! It was quite difficult and exciting to go down!
We did adhere to all C measures and everyone wore a face mask.”
